Implications for practice and research

  • Primary care nurses with specialist training in behavioural insomnia therapy can effectively treat patients with insomnia by improving their symptoms and mental health.

  • Future research should focus on codesign with practising nurses to better understand how insomnia therapy could be implemented into existing models of care.
