Childbearing at 25–29 years of age, having a normal pre-pregnancy body weight, no alcohol or caffeine consumption, no heavy lifting or night shift work during pregnancy may reduce the risk of miscarriage by 25.2%.
Further research needs to replicate these findings in prospective cohorts and systematic reviews.

There is considerable literature implicating several modifiable risk factors for miscarriage. Older age at conception, obesity, smoking, alcohol and caffeine consumption have all been associated with an increased risk of miscarriage.
