    Context

    Transgender patients have unique barriers to healthcare. Despite greater incidence of chronic conditions such as diabetes mellitus, human immunodeficiency virus and depression, when compared to cisgender individuals, transgender individuals are less likely to have had a primary care visit in the last year.
