Implications for practice

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) self-care management practices are linked to positive outcomes, and, particularly, an improvement in the glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c) levels.

  • Further research into self-management interventions is needed to confirm these findings can be validated from a cross-cultural perspective.
