The Effects of White Noise on Preprocedural Anxiety and Vital Signs Among Older Adults Undergoing Colonoscopy
2023, Journal of Perianesthesia NursingMusic and pain during endorectal ultrasonography examination: A prospective questionnaire study and literature review
2020, RadiographyCitation Excerpt :A music intervention is an easy, safe, and inexpensive method to help reduce patients' pain and stress. The use of music and its ability to reduce anxiety and pain involve several biomedical and hospital settings, e.g. lowering of heart rate and blood pressure, reduced use of sedation, and as an instrument in palliative care.8–12 However, not all studies have found music to be effective13,14 and pain might be tolerated better in the healthy population.
The effect of music therapy during colonoscopy on pain, anxiety and patient comfort: A randomized controlled trial
2020, Complementary Therapies in Clinical PracticeMusic exposure attenuates anxiety- and depression-like behaviors and increases hippocampal spine density in male rats
2019, Behavioural Brain ResearchCitation Excerpt :It is notable that the anxiolytic effects of musical enrichment was evident only in the MS group of animals, suggesting that music exposure-induced anxiolysis may be related with stress related effects induced by MS. In other words, the behaviors of the MS group which has been exposed to the musical stimuli resemble those of the control group, which has not been exposed neither to maternal absence nor to musical environmental enrichment. Our results are consistent with previous studies, in which classical music decreases stress and anxiety in humans [60–63] and musical enrichment in experimental animals induces anxiolytic-like effects in animal groups that exhibit increased anxiety compared to control animals [27,64–66]. Similar to our study, musical enrichment does not induce anxiolysis in control animals.
