Implications for practice and research

  • The trial found that children who shared educational interventions with parents had an impact on the child and family salt intake.

  • Educational programmes to help reduce salt intake could assist in decreasing the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in China.

  • Further research needs to be undertaken to explore if similar educational programmes could be successfully implemented in different countries and contexts.
