Implication for research and practice

  • There is a need for awareness among nurses of the lack of understanding among adolescents of the risks associated with e-cigarettes.

  • More research is needed to examine misconceptions of e-cigarette smoking and addiction among adolescents.

Context

One of the most popular tobacco products used by adolescents in the USA is e-cigarettes. According to the CDC, nearly 20% of high school students and 5% of middle school students use e-cigarettes.
